In Germany, it is common practice for elderly people who can no longer live in their own homes to move into an an old people\u2019s home, where they live alongside each other, are cared for and looked after. The tasks in an old people\u2019s home are clearly divided. Geriatric nurses are responsible for looking after the medical needs of the residents, administer medications and attend to physical well-being, they help the residents with their personal hygiene, i.e. wash them and take them to the toilet. Furthermore, they maintain lots of contact with the doctors and relatives and have to document in writing many of their activities on the PC. This makes it very important for them to master the language. Nurse auxiliaries help the geriatric nurses mainly with personal hygiene tasks: however, they may not administer any medications or draw up nursing plans.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Additionally, there are also social services employees who are responsible mainly for providing diversity in the old people\u2019s home in the form of walks, activities and outings, making sure that the residents don\u2019t get bored. Finally, an old people\u2019s home also has service staff who are responsible for preparing and distributing meals, and cleaners who are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of all the areas in the old people\u2019s home. Working together, all employees are responsible for making sure that the residents want for nothing and that they can enjoy their twilight years.
